The Weekend Walks Edinburgh guide is a small, lightweight booklet offering 25 routes with illustrated maps.
Nick Drainey, who created it, is a journalist, and it’s very clear he has walked these paths.
After all, he writes about his Scottish walks on his blog, walking-scotland.com.
If you’re a first time visitor to Edinburgh, there are four routes for you.
The rest are for those lucky enough to return again and again.
But even just by reading them you get a glimpse of the Scottish countryside.
In any case, the booklet makes a lovely souvenir or a thoughtful gift for someone who dreams of Edinburgh…
and there are many of us.
I bought the guide at Waterstones in the heart of the city. A bookstore whose upper floor has a café overlooking Edinburgh Castle.
You can also find it online on many sites, like curiouser, where I ended up browsing Scottish stories for quite a while.
The series includes many more little guidebooks with routes covering different corners of Great Britain.
We’ll take a look at the London guide together.
